The university is situated in Beaumont, Texas, approximately 90 miles from Houston and affords numerous opportunities for a wide range of educational and cultural experiences.

Our department prepares American Sign Language teachers and interpreters, teachers of Deaf children from early childhood to secondary levels, as well as university professors and administrators.

Students work closely with our Deaf and hearing faculty in a culturally and linguistically accessible and friendly setting.  The department has partnerships with state schools for the Deaf, mainstreamed programs in the public schools, community colleges, universities and research labs in order to give the students a state-of-the-art curriculum and rich intern experiences.
