The jazz bands concert features two bands under the direction of Wayne Dyess, director of jazz studies at Lamar. His newest ensemble, In Flight, opens the concert with "Take the 'A' Train," composed by Billy Strayhorn, arranged by Gordon Goodwin. Other selections by In Flight include "Blue Skes," by Horace Silver and "Prime Time," by Sammy Nestico. Lamar 'A' Jazz Band then takes the stage with Don Menza's "Beulah Witch," the "Baytrail Shuffle," by Maria Schneider, Gordon Goodwin's "Whodunit?" and "Plunger Mute Syndrome," by John Clayton.
