Lamar University has received a $500,000 donation from Valero Energy Corporation to upgrade the Process Control and Unit Operations Labs in the Department of Chemical Engineering, enhancing student training with advanced equipment, including a PetroSkills simulator and a carbon capture system.

The Lamar University College of Education and College of Arts and Sciences, in partnership with Jefferson County, are launching the F.O.R.M. Program in January 2025 to support first-time juvenile offenders aged 13 to 16 with academic resources, mentorship, and career opportunities to reduce recidivism and help them build a better future.
