Cheryl Johnson has taught at Lamar University since 2003. She earned her baccalaureate at Howard Payne University in Brownwood, Texas, and her master's degree at Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, Alabama. She has been teaching in higher education since 1996 and has taught at colleges in Alabama and Georgia before joining the English faculty. She is the author of the Benny the Dachshund children's book series, which includes the first two books, Benny Finds a Home (2010) and Benny Learns a Lesson (2021). Ms. Johnson has also published a novella, Nobody Loves Me Like You, which is included in the romance anthology Where Blooms Love (2022) with seven other authors. Current writing projects include continued work on her children’s book series and delving into a children’s chapter book.
