BISD Campus Scholars attended Lamar University's Men’s and Women's Basketball tip off and spent time with Big Red and Lu.
Lamar University welcomed their N.E.S.T. campuses to join in the spirit of Cardinal Nation to cheer on the launch of the Cardinal’s basketball season!
“BISD is excited to partner with Lamar University and attend a Lamar basketball game, which is an experience many of our students may not traditionally have," said Anita Frank, assistant superintendent for elementary campuses, BISD. "Students are chosen to attend based on their ability to achieve personal and campus goals. It is a wonderful way to reward students for their hard work. Hopefully, the excitement from the game will encourage them to continue to strive for success and influence them to explore attending Lamar in the future."
The event marked the Second Annual Education Day sponsored in partnership with Lamar Athletics and the Office of Community Relations, Economic Development and Student Access.
Lamar University's Office of Community Relations, Economic Development and Student Access, in collaboration with and support through a generous donation to the LU Foundation from ExxonMobil, will be developing the fourth N.E.S.T. Innovative Learning Lab at Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Middle School. Plans for this new partnered campus are moving forward with a proposed ribbon cutting date in late Spring 2020.
