Dr. Caleb P. Hood holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Abilene Christian University, a Master of Education in reading from Sam Houston State University, and a Doctorate in Interdisciplinary Learning and Teaching from the University of Texas at San Antonio. He holds Texas certifications as an elementary, middle school, and high school teacher in Language Arts, reading specialist, and English as a Second Language teacher. Dr. Hood has worked in Texas schools for seventeen years.

Prior to coming to Lamar University, Dr. Hood was an adjunct professor at the University of Texas at San Antonio. He is currently an Assistant Professor in the Teacher Education Department where he teaches literacy education courses. Dr. Hood has published and presented research for a variety of state and national organizations and journals.

Dr. Hood’s research interests are in writing curriculum, Language arts teacher professional development, multi-literacies, writing to learn, and teacher education. He is a member of a multitude of professional organizations including the National Council of Teachers of English, International Literacy Association, Texas Association of Literacy Educators, Texas Council of Teachers of Language Arts and American Educational Studies Association.
