Teacher Education
Being a teacher is one of the most rewarding careers available. Our program prepares you for a journey of lifelong learning that you can instill in those you'll be educating. We focus on content knowledge, content proficiency, pedagogical strategies, communication skills and analytical skills.

Become a certified teacher at Lamar University
- Choose a program that includes educator preparation from our Teacher Education department for lower grades (EC-6,4-8) or your major department for upper grades (EC-12,7-12).
- Apply to the Educator Preparation Program at LU
- Complete your degree.
- Register for TExES State Exams and Certification
The Teacher Education department is location on the second floor of the Education building.
