The TSUS Foundation and Board of Regents have established award programs to recognize outstanding faculty, staff and students. Awards include professor, teaching, staff excellence and student scholar.
Through a generous gift to the Lamar University Foundation, David J. Beck established the teaching excellence award and undergraduate fellowships for students with high academic performance in any discipline.
Originally established by the Lamar System Board of Regents, distinguished faculty were awarded the Regents' Professorships and Regents' Merit Awards. After transitioning to Texas State University System, these recognitions changed an d are now known as the University Professor and Merit Awards.
Established in 1979 through a generous gift from Julie and Ben Rogers, the Rogers Community Service Award is awarded annually to a member of faculty or staff who has made a significant contribution to community service in the Golden Triangle. One recipient from each institution is chosen annually from Lamar University, Lamar Institute of Technology, Lamar State College- Port Arthur, and Lamar State College- Orange.
