GRADUATE COUNCIL MINUTES

The Graduate Council of Lamar University met in the Wimberly Building, room 219D, at 1:30 pm. Dr. William Harn, Dean of Graduate Studies, presided. Dr. Ruthie Robinson, Dr. Jai-Young Choi, Dr. Nick Rissman, Dr. Dorothy Sisk, Dr. Heffner-Babb, Dr. Brenda Nichols and Carly Cox were in attendance. Dr. Jill Killough from Family & Consumer Sciences also attended.
MINUTES: The November 2018 (#446) and February 2019 (#447) minutes were reviewed by the Graduate Council. Dr. Sisk motioned to approve both minutes, Dr. Robinson seconded the motion, and the Council unanimously approved.
OLD BUSINESS:
NEW BUSINESS:
COEHD – Family & Consumer Sciences: discontinuation of M.S. degree in Family & Consumer Science; request for new course abbreviation rubrics. Dr. Jill Killough described the reason for these changes. Dr. Sisk motioned to approve the changes, Dr. Rissman seconded the motion and the Council unanimously approved.
COFAC – Speech & Hearing Sciences: correction of errors in original course numbers affecting credit hours/tuition; cross-list as MUSI for singers and teachers of singing that may not need/want SPHS credits. Dr. Rissman motioned to approve, Dr. Sisk seconded the motion and the Council unanimously approved.
COAS – Computer Science: new admissions requirements. Dr. Sisk moved to accept the changes, Dr. Rissman seconded the motion and the council unanimously approved.
Conclusion: The next meeting will be on Thursday, May 16th, at 1:30pm
