Lucrezia Pavesi’s thesis, entitled LAMA (Lu’s Academy of Media Arts), delves into the redesign of a university website, aiming to streamline navigation and enhance visual appeal for contemporary audiences. Recognizing the common issue of confusing and overwhelming websites among smaller universities, which often hinder users from finding essential information and fail to represent the institution effectively to prospective students, LAMA draws initial inspiration from Lamar University’s website. Through a process informed by User Experience (UX) design principles, LAMA identifies and reorganizes the pertinent and essential information required for an academic website in an intuitive and fluid manner. The outcome is a vibrant, modern website that empowers users with a sense of inspiration and control, achieved through deliberate exclusion of unnecessary elements and thoughtful organization. While LAMA is tailored to a specific university as a model, its broader aim is to catalyze reflection among colleges and institutions on the impact and significance of their own websites, encouraging them to prioritize user experience and visual coherence.
