Lamar University Audiology Clinic

Since 1975, Lamar University Audiology has been helping individuals and their families to improve their quality of life to residents in the Golden Triangle and surrounding areas of Southeast Texas. We are equipped with state-of-the-art instrumentation appropriate for assessment of:

  • Hearing aid benefit/function
  • Overall identification and management of hearing and balance disorders

Training Institution

As a training institution, the clinic is committed to providing services using the latest evidence-based protocols and equipment. All audiologists on staff hold Texas licensure and certification from the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association.

Specialty Clinics

Adult Aural Rehabilitation Clinic

The Adult Aural Rehabilitation Clinic at Lamar University helps individuals with hearing loss identify and maximize their communication potential. The focus is to prevention and/or remediation of wider consequences of hearing loss.

Services and Assistance With Quality of Life

The services include evaluating and treating a wide range of hearing impairments, as well as prescribing and programming hearing instruments, including cochlear implants. More importantly, this clinic also provide psychosocial support, communication training and assistive listening devices to improve the communication ability and the quality of life of individuals with hearing loss and their significant others.

Cochlear Implant Clinic

Specialists at Lamar University’s Cochlear Implant Center offer support to pediatric and adult cochlear implant patients. This support includes initial diagnostic evaluations to determine candidacy, proper fitting of the cochlear implant and continual follow-up support to ensure that the greatest benefit is derived from the cochlear implant.

Physicians in Beaumont and Houston provide the medical and surgical aspects of cochlear implantation.

From US 69/96N from Nederland, take Rolfe Christopher/Highland Avenue exit, stay straight, just as you pass the railroad tracks turn right onto Rolfe Christopher Drive. Continue straight on Rolfe Christopher, through the stop sign.

From US 69/96S from Beaumont, exit at Rolfe Christopher then turn left under the underpass onto Rolfe Christopher Drive. If you cross the railroad tracks, you’ve gone too far.  Continue straight on Rolfe Christopher, through the stop sign.

Parking

The Speech and Hearing Building is on the left after the big parking lot. Turn left on Iowa St. Parking is located on the south side of the building. This is a visitors/patients parking area. Students are at risk for being ticketed or towed if not checked in at the front office.
