McMaster Honors Scholarships

The McMaster Honors Scholarships at Lamar were instituted in 1976 in memory of Mr. and Mrs. M.W. McMaster of Beaumont. The fund was set up by their children — Catherine, Helen, and Brad and Brad’s wife, Belle. This fund now supports some 70 students annually, with scholarships ranging from $700 to $1,000 per semester.

In addition, several thousands of dollars in honors scholarships are annually provided by the Tom F. and Ann D. Jones Memorial Fund. Mr. Jones was past chairman of the Board of Directors of the Beaumont Area Educators Federal Credit Union and Mrs. Jones was an instructor in the College of Business at Lamar University.

Incoming freshmen will automatically be considered for honors scholarships when they apply for the Reaud Honors College. Continuing and transfer students must complete this form: Scholarship Application Form for Continuing or Transfer Students.

The deadline for all honors scholarship eligibility is Feb. 1. Honors scholarships are allocated by the Lamar University Honors Council and recipients will be notified by letter and by email. When funds are available, scholarships may also be offered on a one-semester basis or for summer classes. Announcements about additional scholarships will be emailed to all honors students.
