RLI and Honors Minor - Success Tip

RLI Minor Success Tip

Starting your journey in the Reaud Honors College can feel intimidating since you are being encouraged to aim higher during your pursuit of academic excellence. Yet being part of the Reaud Leadership Institute (RLI) has not only connected me with like-minded peers, but also allowed me to align my passions with my research and career aspirations.

My name is Peyton Lee, and I am an honors student pursuing a major in Chemical Engineering along with minors in Mathematics, Chemistry, and Honors Studies. As a Southeast Texas Legends Scholar and a Reaud Fellow of the RLI, I've experienced firsthand the exceptional opportunities within our Honors College.

The RLI is a tight-knit cohort of honors students representing diverse majors and fields of study. All Presidential Scholars and Southeast Texas Legends Scholars are invited to participate in this unique interdisciplinary experience.

Reaud Fellows receive an array of exclusive benefits, including invitations to prestigious honors and community events, participation in a unique honors seminar course as part of an exclusive minor in Honors Studies, valuable networking opportunities, and the inevitable formation of friendships among fellow members.

The Scholars Development Seminar, an exclusive course for Reaud Fellows during their first semester, empowered us to explore our majors, interests, and future career paths by formulating research topics and plans. This experience broadened my outlook on my future and instilled a strong sense of confidence in my chosen path!

As the Reaud Honors College continues to evolve each year, the opportunities available to incoming Honors students are limitless. The RLI represents just one facet of the many experiences that the college has to offer.

Should you receive the invitation to join, I encourage you to discover your own unique niche within Lamar University as a Reaud Fellow!

I look forward to potentially welcoming you to our community within the Reaud Honors College at Lamar University!

Best regards,

Peyton Lee
