Criminal Justice and Computer Science Receive Top Rankings

LU’s online M.B.A. in Criminal Justice program ranked among best in the nation

Intelligent.com has ranked Lamar University the 11th best online probation officer degree program in the nation.

Intelligent.com provides annual college rankings, reviews and ratings based on aggregated publicly available data. The research guide is compiled from an assessment of 95 accredited colleges and universities around the U.S. Each program is evaluated based on the quality of its curriculum, the graduation rate, reputation and post-graduate employment.criminal-justice

“Probation officers must have the latest knowledge while simultaneously performing a multitude of other sophisticated tasks,” said Robert Worley, director of criminal justice at Lamar University. “This unique program provides probation officers with an incredible array of administrative and management tools, while also introducing them to the latest criminological theories as well as court decisions.”

One of the distinguishing factors about LU’s online criminal justice program is its M.B.A. in criminal justice degree, a unique curriculum of business and criminal justice courses all available online.

“It’s awesome that our criminal justice faculty members are able to collaborate with the College of Business to produce such a high-quality graduate degree,” said Worley. “It is clearly making an important impact in people’s lives.”

LU’s online computer science degree ranks among top in the U.S.

EDsmart.org ranks Lamar University’s online computer science bachelor degree program 17th out of 34 schools in the nation.

EDsmart.org provides yearly college rankings, reviews and ratings according to the latest data from the U.S. Computer scienceDepartment of Education and other reputable sources for higher education data.

The criteria for the computer science degree program was based on four key points – affordability, student satisfaction, academic quality and return on investment. These points were then scored on a scale of 0 to 100, where Lamar University received a score of 88.8

“Our department has been working on designing online computer science courses since 2008,” said Stefan Andrei, chair of the Department of Computer Science. “We always thrive for the highest quality in satisfying the requirements of designing online courses.”

Lamar University was competitive because of the university’s above average retention rate, the low net price of the tuition and the major return on investment from computer science degrees.
