Sports Page is a book of accessible, engaging, and crafted poetry about sports and the people who love them. There’s basketball, football, tennis, running, baseball, and even some lesser-known sports such as poker, dog sledding, and skating. In each poem, Waldman uses sport as a means to explore what it means to be human.

Ken Waldman’s 14 books consist of 11 full-length poetry collections, a memoir about his life as a touring artist, a volume of acrostic poems for kids, and a hybrid book that’s part writing manual, part memoir, part full-length collection of poems (about writers and writing). A former college professor with an MFA in Creative Writing, he’s been a visiting writer at nearly 100 colleges and universities and a visiting artist at over 230 schools in 33 states, and he’s led workshops from Alaska to Maine. As a performer, he’s played from the Kennedy Center Millennium Stage to Berkeley’s Freight and Salvage, occasionally as a soloist, more often as leader of one of his ever-changing troupes of nationally recognized musicians. His nine CDs of old-time Appalachian-style string-band music include two for children.
