Williams tapped LU cheer squad coordinator
Allison Williams joined the Lamar University recreational sports family in June 2015 to serve as the coordinator of the Lamar cheer squad. Williams previously served as the head cheer coach for Mercer University in Macon, Ga. and head cheer coach for Arkansas Tech in Russellville, Ark.
A native of Leander, Williams received a bachelor’s degree from Baylor University in speech communication in 2013. While at Baylor, she was a four-year member of the Baylor University All-Girl Cheer Team. She received her master's degree in college student personnel from Arkansas Tech in 2015.
“Collegiate spirit teams are working with what cheer alumni have already established and should strive to continually improve the program,” Williams said. “Expectations for this team are to enhance the spirit and traditions of Lamar University. As representatives of the university, Lamar Cheerleaders will be able to deepen the pride for Lamar University and its athletic teams.”
Williams competed with the Heart of Texas International Open Co-Ed team during her college career. While she was with the Heart of Texas Hi-5, the team competed in the 2012 USASF Cheer Worlds competition. Overall, Williams has more than 16 years of cheerleading experience at all levels and has been coaching for more than eight years.
