Student Leadership Conference features Olympian, workshops
Lamar University students will be participating in the 2016 Student Leadership Conference Saturday, Feb. 6 where they will hear from keynote speaker Johnny Quinn, Olympian and former NFL player, and attend workshops to hone their leadership skills.
“Whether current leader or an emerging leader, the 2016 Student Leadership Conference: ‘Becoming a Next Generation Leader’ will be a great opportunity for students to learn about themselves, and to explore art and science of leadership,” said Terry Mena, associate vice president and dean of students.
Now a professional motivational speaker, Quinn competed in the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia in the sport of bobsled, and traveled with Team USA competing in Austria, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Russia and Switzerland. A former professional football player, Quinn played with the NFL’s Buffalo Bills and Green Bay Packers, and with the CFL’s Saskatchewan Roughriders. A native of McKinney, Texas, he graduated from North Texas with a degree in pre-law and left as the school’s all-time leading receiver.
