LU Dance Team presents ‘In a Perfect World’
The Lamar University Dance Team will demonstrate its talent and dedication at the 11th annual spring show, “In a Perfect World”, at the Jefferson Theater, 345 Fannin St. in Beaumont on Friday, May 6 and Saturday, May 7 at 7 p.m.
Each year there is a new theme for the second act of the show, which then becomes the theme for the first act the following year. This year, the first act features pieces from last year’s “Ten,” and the second act unveils “In a Perfect World.”
This spring’s theme is unique because it weaves together creative input from a multitude of backgrounds and generations.
When family and friends were posed the question, “What would it take to create a perfect world?” the responses ranged from as far as magic and superpowers to money and cures for the sick or suffering. Artistic director Brixey Blankenship-Cozad incorporated a medley of suggestions to form a moving, exciting show with wide appeal.
“Its heart wrenching, exhilarating and fun. We are really pushing the envelope this year,” she said.
Blankenship-Cozad says that the show is fast-paced with constant entertainment and a rollercoaster of emotions. “This years show is unique in that it has dancers from many places come together as one,” she said. “All are welcome to come support LU Dance and enjoy the program.”
“These ladies are gifted, artistic performers. They’re always cheering others on at games from the sidelines, and now it’s their turn to be center stage,” said Blankenship-Cozad.
Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the Jefferson Theatre the day of the show.
