LU Greeks celebrate 60 years on campus
Like a big family reunion, alumni members of Lamar University’s social Greek fraternities and sororities will gather to celebrate 60 years of Greek Life at Lamar University. The Office of Alumni Affairs, in partnership with Greek Life, is hosting the celebration on Friday, Nov. 11 at the University Event Center on the 8th floor of the Mary and John Gray Library from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
The event will include hearty hors d’oeuvres and beverages, giveaways, a DJ and a fun photo booth. All Greek alumni are invited to mix and reminisce about their days as active fraternity and sorority members.
“The fraternity and sorority community has a rich history at Lamar University,” said Shannon Copeland, director of Alumni Affairs. “With 60 years of sisterhood, brotherhood, philanthropy, leadership, service and values, sororities and fraternities continue to enrich the lives of their members. It’s a past and present worth commemorating.”
“The reception is a great opportunity for alumni to reconnect with old friends and make new ones while demonstrating to our students that involvement in Greek Life does not end at graduation,” Copeland said. “Membership in a fraternity or sorority is for a lifetime and provides lasting connections to Lamar University and to their brotherhood or sisterhood.”
Pre-registration is required. For more information on the Greek Alumni 60th Anniversary Celebration or to register visit lamar.edu/greekreunion.
