PayScale names LU a Best Value College for Engineering

Lamar University has been ranked as a best value school for students pursuing engineering as a major by PayScale’s 2017 College ROI report.

The annual College ROI report measures the return on tuition investment 20 years after graduation, and this year it ranked LU No. 2 out of more than 500 US colleges. PayScale.com is a website that compiles salary profiles to created the world’s largest pay database.

In the past, PayScale ranked Lamar University 11th nationwide for return on investment for engineering majors and 3rd among all public institutions.

Lamar University’s College of Engineering has five academic departments:

Chemical Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering.

The College of Engineering offers a number of endowed scholarships valued at more than $4 million available to eligible students and ranks 20th as one of the best engineering schools in the country according to bestvalueschools.com.

The college’s research expenditures average $2.5 million a year. Many projects are associated with local industry, such as the Texas Air Research Center, Texas Hazardous Waste Center and the Center for Advances in the Study of Port Management.
