Lamar University Student Engineering Council to Host Discover Engineering
The Student Engineering Council of Lamar University will host Discover Engineering on April 6, 2019, from 12-4 p.m. at Spindletop Boomtown Museum.
Discover Engineering will provide young students, kindergarten through eighth grade, with the opportunity to participate in hands-on activities in a fun, science fair atmosphere. Student organizations and local industries will host booths where attendees can experience activities like kinetic sand, Insta Snow, glow in the dark water and pop rockets.“The goal of Discover Engineering is to get kids interested in STEM,” explained Jennifer Watters, senior chemical engineering student and vice president of development for the Student Engineering Council. “Children are naturally interested in science at a young age, so engaging them early will pay off in the long run. And it’s fun!”
Discover Engineering is a free community event targeted for students in kindergarten through eighth grade. Snacks, t-shirts and door prizes will be offered at no cost. Register online at lamar.edu/discoverengineering or at the door.
