Dishman Art Museum presents alumni juried art exhibition
The Dishman Art Museum is pleased to present the second juried alumni art exhibition for Lamar University titled “After School Special.” The exhibition will run from June 14-Aug. 2, with an opening reception on June 14 from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Entry information was sent out to LU alumni and the winners of “After School Special” were recently announced. Gonzalo Alvarez ’17, Greg Busceme Sr ’79, Andy Coughlan ’01, ’05, Elizabeth Fontenot ’13, Audra LaCour ’16, Ken Mazzu ’92, Cathy Spence ’97 and Myke Venable ’92, ’99, will have their works for view during the exhibition.
“I am delighted to be selected to be part of ‘After School Special.’ It will be nice to have my work in the Dishman for the first time,” said Coughlan, who is the director of Student Publications at Lamar University. “These particular pieces are the culmination of a style I began playing with about 18 months ago. I look forward to sharing the walls with my fellow alumni.”
Clint Willour, who served as the curator of the Galveston Arts Center for 25 years, and has been an art professional for more than 40 years, served as the juror. He is active on boards of numerous arts organizations in Texas and has served as a juror for more than 100 competitions. Willour has curated more than 400 exhibitions and serves regularly as a guest curator for institutions throughout the state of Texas and beyond.
“It is nice to have the work selected by Mr. Willour, as he has a strong reputation through his work with the Galveston Arts Center,” said Coughlan.
Admission to the Dishman Art Museum is free of charge and open to the public. For more information, please visit lamar.edu/dishman.
