Museum Virtual Tour and Resource Page Now Available
Spindletop Gladys City Boomtown Museum announces a new resource page on its website with fun, yet educational, activities for kids.
The resource page has coloring sheets, a crossword, a word find, webquests and more. These can be used for all ages. Children will not even know they are learning about one of the most important events in Southeast Texas. While they are doing the worksheets, families can enjoy a virtual tour of the museum.
“We wanted to provide families, teachers and others an opportunity to visit the museum in their homes while they are practicing social distancing,” said Troy Gray, director of Spindletop Gladys City Boomtown. “With the worksheets, learning about Spindletop can be fun."
Spindletop-Gladys City Boomtown is a replica of the boomtown that grew up around the Spindletop oil fields in the early 1900s. Located on US 69 at Jimmy Simmons Blvd in Beaumont, the museum will be open Tuesday – Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. when it becomes safe to do so.
