Janet Daniels, owner and president of Daniels Building & Construction, Inc., has been named to Lamar University’s College of Business Hall of Fame. Daniels, who graduated from LU in 1982 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, is the fifteenth business person honored with the distinction and the second female.
The College of Business Hall of Fame recognizes alumni who have excelled in their professional lives,
demonstrate integrity in business and their personal lives and take pride in their alma mater. The Hall of Fame distinction is the highest tribute possible for College of Business graduates. Members of the COB Hall of Fame serve as outstanding role models for current and future students.
“I feel so honored and humbled because I remember being at LU and going up those stairs in the College of Business and seeing all of the pictures of the Hall of Fame people of the generations before, and now I am one of them,” said Daniels. “I got into Rice and all the other places, but I wanted to go to Lamar. I’ve always been proud to be a Cardinal.”
Daniels has worked in all facets of the Daniels Building & Construction, Inc., a multi-generational company founded in 1957. Daniels served as the executive vice president and CFO until 2013, when she became sole owner and president. The company has built notable landmarks across Southeast Texas and Southwest Louisiana, including Ford Arena, Christus Bone & Joint, TXDOT Travel Center and numerous educational facilities such as the Lumberton FEMA Dome, Performing Arts Center and Lamar State College-Port Arthur Multi-Purpose Building.
Additionally, Janet was co-founder of MOB, Inc., a medical office building development and management company; Daniels American Inc., a development company for multi-residential facilities; and Daniels Investment Group, LLC.
Daniels also serves the community. She is a member of the board of directors, an executive committee member and former treasurer of the Anayat House of Beaumont, a non-profit organization providing overnight accommodations for family members of patients at local hospitals and medical facilities.
Currently Daniels serves on the Advisory Council for Lamar University’s Construction Management Program, is a member of the Associated General Contractors of Southeast Texas, Associated Builders & Contractors of Southeast Texas, the Greater Beaumont Chamber of Commerce, the Greater Port Arthur Chamber of Commerce and the Better Business Bureau.
“We really wanted to recognize Janet for all of the things she has accomplished,” Dan French, dean of the College of Business. “It brings honor to the college when our graduates are successful and particularly in all different types of businesses and industry and government assignments. We are very pleased and proud that Janet represents Lamar University and is a Lamar Cardinal.”
