Lamar University’s Center for Midstream Management and Science is extremely pleased to announce that Dirk van Oostendorp has joined the Midstream Center’s Industry Advisory Board.
“We are extremely pleased and honored to have Mr. van Oostendorp, an industry leader in corrosion science and technology, supporting us in our efforts to deliver value to the midstream sector,” said Thomas Kalb, director of the Midstream Center. “His involvement greatly enhances our ability to promote dialogue and collaboration with industry and focus our research efforts on matters important to the midstream companies.”
The 86th Texas Legislature established the Midstream Center to develop a partnership between Lamar University and the midstream industry, and to promote and lead practical research and technology development relevant to the midstream sector.
“It gives me great pleasure to be a part of this initiative, as the midstream industry has evolved over the past decade and new technologies are required to support further advancement,” said Dirk. “In order to foster safer and more efficient operations in this sector, further technological development and research is needed.”
Dirk van Oostendorp is the director of Engineering & Technical Services for Corrpro, a division of Aegion, located in Houston. Dirk has more than 40 years of global experience in pipeline and asset integrity, encompassing corrosion control, material selection, inspection technologies and risk assessment. His more recent experience includes integrity monitoring, failure analysis and pipeline integrity issues. Dirk holds degrees in chemical technology and physical chemistry. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, the Institute of Corrosion and a NACE Corrosion Specialist. Van Oostendorp is the author of 22 technical articles and 36 conference papers.
