Lamar University’s
Office of Human Resources recognizes its previous student worker and intern L’Karion Cartwright for her achievement in obtaining a paid co-op with WestRock Company in Silsbee, Texas for the spring and summer 2022 semesters.
Growing up in Silsbee, Texas, Cartwright moved to Beaumont, where she graduated from Westbrook High School. Cartwright began her student worker career at Lamar University for the
Department of Career and Professional Development from January to November of 2021. Afterward, she transferred to her student worker and internship position in the human resources office on campus from November 2021 to March 2022.
Currently pursuing her
Bachelor of Business Administration in Human Resource Management, Cartwright will graduate in August of 2022. Cartwright said her future career goals after graduation include pursuing an employment opportunity in HR recruitment and obtaining her PHR certification to become a certified human resources professional.
“I enjoy the field of human resources since it allows me to give back to the community by connecting and guiding individuals in obtaining jobs,” Cartwright said. “I want to thank the Lamar University faculty and staff. I’m grateful for the student worker experience that has prepared me for success in my current co-op.”
