Dr. Golden Wright has been named the permanent dean of the College of Fine Arts and Communication at Lamar University. His appointment was announced to faculty and staff by LU’s Provost & Vice President for Academic Affairs at the fall Provost’s Kickoff.
“It is with great pleasure that I announce the appointment of Dr. Golden Wright as dean of the College of Fine Arts and Communication on a permanent basis. During his time in the Department of Theater and Dance and as interim dean this past year, Golden has proven to be a tremendous asset to the university. He is well-respected throughout Beaumont and southeast Texas. He is the right person for this job, and we are fortunate to have him among us,” Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs Dan Brown said.
Wright holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in dance from Sam Houston State University. He was tenured and promoted to associate professor in 2014 and promoted to professor in 2021. That same year, he completed his Ed.D. in educational leadership, which paved the way for his future role as dean.
“I am honored and humbled by the opportunity to lead a college with such amazing and talented faculty and incredible students,” Wright said. “The breadth of disciplines in the college provides me with experiences to learn and grow each day as a faculty member and administrator. I also enjoy working with the creative community of southeast Texas and look forward to developing even more opportunities to highlight the talent that is present on campus.”
