Micki Carpenter Platt Scholarship founded

Micki Carpenter Platt named the Lamar University Foundation as the beneficiary of two $20,000 charitable gift annuities administered by the National Gift Annuity Foundation with the intent to provide funds and endow the Micki Carpenter Platt Scholarship.   Generic LU Classroom Photo

This scholarship is open to both full-time graduate and undergraduate students of any major who maintain a 3.0 GPA or higher.  
 
Platt was a real estate broker/owner of ERA Team Realtors. She moved to Beaumont in 1959, where she raised her three daughters and one son. After leaving the medical field, she entered real estate where she earned Salesperson and Realtor of the Year from the Beaumont Board of Realtors.  

In 1981, Platt entered the management sector of real estate, coming to MAR-co Real Estate in 1988 where they franchised with ERA who have 2,800 offices nationwide and 37 international brokerages.  
 
Platt served in numerous capacities in the community, including the Chamber of Commerce, the American Red Cross, as a trustee for Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas, and the Foundation Board of Lamar institute of Technology. She was also involved in music and other responsibilities at Calder Baptist Church.
