Lamar University invites students of all ages to a variety of summer camps to be held on campus this summer. Camps are offered for various ages and interests with daily and residential opportunities.

LU STEAM Summer Art Camp
The LU STEAM Summer Art Camp is an intensive week of exciting hands-on integrated learning activities and art projects for students ages 13 to 18. The STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) curriculum has been adapted to place "Art" back into the center of learning, creating STEAM. The camp, June 17-21, presents through the STEAM mindset, and offers opportunity for students to learn that art and design are essential components to understanding the world as they engage in problem solving through visual methods. The STEAM Summer Art Camp courses are designed to be concentrated and active. Each course will be taught by a professional art educator with art certification and teaching experience in the area of STEAM. LU Summer Band Camp
Lamar University will offer a single band camp, intended for middle school and junior high school students (grades sixth through ninth) from June 9-13. LU Summer Band Camp offers a great opportunity for instrumental students to improve their skills while having fun. A staff of outstanding band directors and instructors offer a variety of daily classes, including full band rehearsals, group lessons (master classes), electives and daytime recreation. Evening recreation typically includes movies, games, sports, free time and a talent show. The camp culminates with a grand concert of bands, featuring all camp participants. All State Choir Camp
Camp will be July 21-July 24 to introduce students entering grades ninth through twelfth to the repertoire for the All-Region and All-State Choir auditions. The rates for camp are $350 for residential students, $150 for day camp, and $210 for TMEA All-State. Registration is online-only: lamar.edu/choircamp or email james.han@lamar.edu.
Lamar Introduction to Engineering (L.I.T.E) – 6th Grade
Sixth graders are invited for a week-long day camp (June 3-7) where attendees will participate in hands-on activities and lessons intended to introduce them to the concepts of engineering and the various disciplines of the field. Campers will work with faculty members, LU engineering students, and guest engineers from local industry throughout the week. Thanks to industry sponsorship, L.I.T.E. Camp is offered at no cost to campers.

Project Engineering
High school students are invited to campus for a week-long day camp focused on robotics design and coding in a team-based environment from July 8-12. The competition at the end of the week will allow campers to show off their skills while interacting with faculty, engineering students, and guest engineers from local industry. Throughout the week, campers will explore LU Engineering, visiting different department labs to learn about the various disciplines and research opportunities available to LU engineering students. Grades and teacher recommendation are required. Space is limited.

ChemE Camp
High school juniors and seniors are invited to campus for a week-long day camp from June 24-28 focused on Chemical Engineering in a team-based environment. The camp will introduce students to some of the various roles available to chemical engineers and common equipment used within petrochemical and pharmaceutical/food manufacturing industries. Hands-on activities will be intertwined with industry plant tours to keep the camp engaging and interesting. This camp is limited to high school students who have successfully completed Chemistry and Algebra II. Space is limited.
Due to laboratory and industry tours, long pants and closed-toe shoes must be worn at all times. Additional Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be issued as needed. A driver’s license or school picture ID will be required for industry tours. Space is limited, and this camp is offered at no cost thanks to corporate sponsorship.

SPORTS CAMPS
Baseball
Baseball Camps provide the opportunity for children ages six to 12 to work on fundamentals and technique with Lamar University Baseball coaches and players. Choose from three sessions. Session I is June 17-20, half day, 9 a.m. to noon, $185; or full day 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., $300. Session II is June 24-27, half day, 9 a.m. to noon, $185; or full day 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., $300. Session III is July 8-11, half day, 9 a.m. to noon, $185; or full day 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., $300.

Men’s Basketball Camps
Lamar University Men’s Basketball Camp teaches the fundamentals of the game in a fun and competitive environment. Players will learn one-on-one moves, team concepts and defensive skills that will help them as they progress as a player. Campers will also learn the importance of proper shooting techniques from LU coaches and players.
Elite Camp is June 25 from 1 to 5 p.m. for varsity-level players. Registration is $50.
Individual Skills Camp has two sessions. The first is June 10-13 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, and 9 a.m. to noon on Thursday, and June 9 from 9 a.m.- noon. The second session takes place June 17-20. It is open to boys ages eight 8 to 18. Registration is $185.

Women’s Basketball Camps
The Robin Harmony's Lady Cardinal Basketball Camp teaches the development of fundamental basketball skills using a fun and competitive environment. Players will learn one-on-one moves, team concepts, three-on-three concepts and two-man games with game concepts. Campers will also learn the importance of proper shooting techniques and how to utilize the triple threat position.
Team Camp is June 8 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m for teams ages 14 to 18. Registration cost per team is $250.
Elite Camp is August 4 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for varsity-level players. Registration is $50.
Kid’s Camp is July 9 to August 1 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and June 9 from 9 a.m.- noon. It is open to girls ages five to 14. Registration is $125.
