Lamar University has announced the establishment of the Cam Le and Carla Pulumbarit Scholarship, a new endowed scholarship designed to support students pursuing degrees in the College of Engineering and the JoAnne Gay Dishman School of Nursing. The scholarship will be awarded annually to students who meet specific academic and enrollment criteria.
Recipients of the scholarship will be selected by a university scholarship committee, based on the criteria outlined in the endowment agreement. To qualify, students must be pursuing a degree within the designated fields, maintain full-time student status according to their degree plan curriculum, and uphold a minimum GPA of 3.0. Both undergraduate and graduate students are eligible for the scholarship, with exceptions allowed for those involved in approved cooperative education programs, internships, or those in their final semester who may not need to be full-time to graduate.
The scholarship was established by Lamar University alumni Cam V. Le and Carla J. Pulumbarit. Le, a 2002 graduate with a degree in chemical engineering, was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity and currently works at Shell. Pulumbarit, a 2001 nursing graduate, currently works in the Texas Medical Center as a nurse.
The Cam Le and Carla Pulumbarit Scholarship will be awarded for the first time next year, continuing the university’s mission to provide educational opportunities for its diverse student body.
