Lamar University Theatre & Dance will kick off its 2024-2025 season with a production of “Dumb Show,” written by Joe Penhall and directed by LU Theatre Department Chair Joel Grothe. The play, which explores themes of fame, power, and manipulation, will run from September 19-22 at the Studio Theatre on campus.
The production stars guest artist Jay Sullivan as Barry, a TV star whose " 15 minutes of infamy" have arrived. Believing he is about to receive special treatment from a pair of bankers, Barry finds himself drawn into a tense game of manipulation as he is pressed to reveal the truth about his off-stage life.
Showtimes for “Dumb Show” are at 7:30 p.m. from Sept. 19-21, with a matinee at 2 p.m. on Sept. 22. The University Theatre is located between the Dishman Art Museum and the Jimmy Simmons Music Building at Lamar University.
Tickets are available through the university’s website at lamar.edu/lutdtix.
