Lamar University and its affiliated colleges are proud to recognize the outstanding contributions of faculty and staff who have gone above and beyond to make a significant impact on the Southeast Texas community.
This year, the recipients of the Julie and Ben Rogers Community Service Award exemplify this dedication to service. Nicole Kyles-Burton, Cindy Wyles , Dana Espinal, and Dr. Maegan Collins have all demonstrated exceptional leadership, volunteerism, and a commitment to local development. Their efforts, ranging from mentoring students to serving on community boards, showcase the values of service and excellence that define Lamar University.
“My father has been gone for 30 years, and my mother for 26, yet every day I'm reminded of something they said or did that holds special meaning for me. First and foremost, hearing about all of your contributions is incredibly moving,” Regina Rogers said. “I believe this is exactly what my parents valued — not only being educators but also giving back to the community and showing the region how much you care and the impact you can have. And clearly, you all have done just that — your accomplishments are truly extraordinary.”
