In her 30+ years at Lamar University, Dr. Shows has served on numerous committees at the university, college and department levels. In recent years, she has served on university search committees and on the strategic planning committee at the college level.

Within the Department of Family & Consumer Sciences, she serves as the faculty advisor for the Beta Theta Chapter of Kappa Omicron Nu (a national honor organization); program coordinator of the online M.S. in Nutrition; department representative and committee member of the College of Education and Human Development magazine, Impact; and faculty mentor of the Nutrition/Dietetics Cardinal Community.
