Dr. Yong Je (YJ) Kim is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Lamar University. He obtained a B.S. in Civil Engineering (2007) and an M.S. in Transportation Engineering/Construction Management (2010) from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Subsequently, he received a Ph.D. in Geotechnical Engineering (2019) from the University of Central Florida.

His work has mainly focused on geohazard mapping, assessment and monitoring by using probabilistic/statistical models, GIS and remote sensing techniques. Prior to joining Lamar University, he served as a lecturer in the Ingram School of Engineering at Texas State University.

Dr. Kim's current research interests include remote sensing for geohazards assessment and monitoring, spatial data analysis, geostatistics, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for geotechnical, hydrogeological and environmental applications.
