Lamar University is proud to announce the 4^th annual Jimmy Simmons Jazz Festival scheduled for Saturday April 1, 2023. Special guests for the event will be 17-time Grammy nominated Yellowjackets, featuring music from their most recent release.

Clinicians 

Our clinicians this year are:

Warren Sneed - First call Houston saxophonist and Director of Jazz Ensembles at Kinder HSPVA in Houston.

Tim McMillen - Lead Trombone with the Kris Berg Metroplexity Big Band and Asst. Fine Arts Coordinator for the Calcasieu Parish Schools in Louisiana.

Noe Marmolejo - Houston professional trumpeter and Director of Jazz Ensembles at the University of Houston.

Bob Athayde - Award winning California middle school and high school music educator and musician.

There will also be a special clinic with legendary saxophonist and composer Bob Mintzer.
