Undergraduate Music Education Program

The undergraduate music education program at Lamar leads to a Bachelor of Music degree with an all-level (EC-12) Texas teaching certificate in music. Students choose a concentration in either instrumental or choral music. They must complete the university general education requirements, as well as the department requirements for a music major. In addition, they must also attain teacher education candidacy and completion of student teaching as required by the College of Education and Human Development.

Music majors seeking teacher certification will want to explore the website of the Department of Professional Pedagogy in the College of Education and Human Development. See also the following link for information about admission to the Educator Preparation Program.
