Cloud storage is a service where data is remotely maintained, managed and backed up. The service allows users to manage their files from any location with internet access from any type of smart device such as a computer, cell phone or tablet.
Any Google, Apple or other cloud storage account YOU have set up is YOUR personal cloud and is not endorsed by Lamar University. This storage is not secured at a business level.
Lamar University provides two storage solutions. Business Cloud, aka Microsoft One Drive for Business, is available to faculty, staff and students. Lamar Cloud, aka “the NAS,” is available by request to faculty and staff and is appropriate for storing confidential data.
Avoid storing Lamar University information on your personal cloud. Never store confidential data on your personal or business cloud.
