Balancing life and school can be difficult. At Lamar University, every student matters. Student Conduct and Care Services was created to help you navigate a wide variety of life’s challenges. We help students create plans to confront difficulties while providing support and resources to keep you safe and successful.
If you're facing challenges or know someone who is, we encourage you to submit a Student of Concern report to connect with our Care Services. Together, we can help you get through difficult times and get back on track.
Examples of behaviors to refer may include, but are not limited to:
Worried about a student? Noticing changes in their behavior? Want to talk with them about what's going on but not sure how to approach them? Scared they'll get into trouble if you share your concerns?
To report a student of concern, please complete the form below. A student of concern is someone who exhibits behavior that might be harmful to oneself or others in the community. The Student Conduct & Care Services team will evaluate, consider, and act upon information reported. The Student Conduct & Care Services team will provide guidance, referrals, counseling, and other types of support necessary for a student in crisis while paying special attention to the safety and security needs of community members.
This referral program is for the use of current students, faculty, staff, and parents of the Lamar University community. Please provide detailed information regarding the concern you are referring. Once the form is received, a member of the SC&CS team will review the information and take appropriate action, which may or may not include contacting the student, you, and any others you have identified. If you have any questions related to completing a Student of Concern Reporting Form, please call 880-7759.
This form is for non-emergency and non-safety related concerns and will only be received during normal business hours (Monday-Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm CST).
If student of concern is in immediate harm to themselves or others, please call the University Police Department at 911 or 409-880-7777.
When you become worried about a student, deciding when to intervene can be confusing. Additionally, the number of resources available to assist students can be overwhelming. The Student Conduct & Care Service is here to help. It's always better to err on the side of caution and report behaviors you think may be of concern
To submit a report, complete the online form.
