There are a variety of ways to volunteer in Southeast Texas:
The LU Green Squad is an organization for everyone in the Lamar University community – students, staff and faculty. They help with recycling, planning green events on campus and spreading the word about sustainability. You are welcome to join our group whether you want to simply show support, keep up with our progress, or become actively involved.
Some of our past activities include distributing recycling bins to every dorm room, making a bottle cap mosaic for Earth Week and helping with the South Park Community Garden.

Every month, ExxonMobil, in partnership with Lamar University, hosts recycling days for the greater Beaumont community. Volunteers assist with sorting recycled items (such as plastic bottles, steel cans, etc.) delivered by community members into various stations.
These events take place from 11 AM - 1 PM, typically on the first Saturdays of every month.
The fall 2024 schedule is as follows:
September 7
October 5
November 2
December 7

Held at the South Park Community Garden (655 Vermont Ave., Beaumont, TX) from 9 AM - 12 PM.
The South Park Community Garden provides fresh healthy food for anyone, with a goal of donating to organizations (Some Other Place, Southeast Texas Food Bank, etc.) that assist the underprivileged in our area.
