Academic Support, Simulation Lab and Skills Training

You will have access to textbooks, handouts, websites, games, facilitated learning and equipment such as iPads and laptops to assist students in the challenges of nursing school.  A full-time RN manages The Caring Place and provides personal guidance and mentorship.

The Caring Place

You will participate in various health initiatives, such as health screenings, education programs, assistance at the local food banks, and outreach efforts to apply your knowledge in real-world settings enhancing your clinical skills.

Community-Based Service Learning (CBSL)

You will experience life-like scenarios in authentic hospital rooms with equipment, virtual realty, electronic health records and other state-of-the-art tech. You will work with with real people acting as “patients” or high-tech mannequins for more invasive procedures to hone skills before working with real patients.

The Nightingale Experience for High School Students

The Nightingale Experience is a two-day event each June for high school students who are interested in nursing as a career choice.  Current nursing students, nursing faculty, and hospital staff introduce the high school students to the nursing profession by planning a variety of fun, educational, hands-on nursing experiences.  High school students nominated to participate in the Nightingale Experience attend free of charge.
