The following are types of financial aid available to undergraduate students:
  • Federal Pell Grant

    The federal *Pell Grant is offered to students based on significant financial need. For the 2024-2025 and 2024-2025 academic years, the maximum award is expected to be $7,395. This amount, if awarded in full, will be split between fall and spring semesters. This grant is classified as need-based (need is determined by the FAFSA application). Your eligibility depends on your financial need, your cost of attendance, your enrollment status and hours, and your plans to attend school for a full academic year or less.

  • Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)

    Students with the most need may be awarded this grant. Priority is given to those who receive the Federal Pell Grant and have a zero Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) or Student Aid Index (SAI) which is determined by the FAFSA application. You must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours for the semester to receive this grant as well as meet certain eligibility criteria.

  • Texas Public Education Grant (TPEG)

    This is a state grant. Funding for this program is limited and awards will be based on your eligibility and the availability of funds. You must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours to receive this grant as well as meet certain eligibility requirements. 

    Important: This grant is contingent upon the availability of state funds and will be cancelled or reduced in the event state funds are no longer available.

  • TEACH Grant - Graduate Students

    The TEACH Grant program was created to assist students that are seeking degrees in high-need fields and anticipate teaching out those fields at the elementary or secondary level. Students must meeting the following conditions to be eligible:

    • Enroll in a qualifying master's degree or post-baccalaureate teacher certificate program
    • Complete a FAFSA
    • Be a U.S. Citizen or eligible non-citizen
    • Enroll in coursework necessary to begin a career in teaching or plan to complete such coursework
    • Maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25
    • Complete TEACH Grant counseling that explains the terms and conditions of the TEACH Grant service obligation. You must complete counseling each year that you receive a TEACH Grant
    • Complete a TEACH Grant Agreement to serve

  • HB Grant

    This is a state grant.  Funding for this program is limited and awards will be based on your eligibility and the availability of funds. You must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours to receive this grant as well as meet certain eligibility requirements.

  • Towards Excellence, Access and Success (TEXAS) Grant Program

    Texas residents who meet certain criteria may be awarded this grant. You must be enrolled in a minimum of 9 credit hours per semester and well as meet additional eligibility requirements.

  • Lamar Promise

    This program ensures that grant and/or scholarship assistance is provided to cover the full amount of fall and spring in-state tuition and fees for undergraduate Texas residents with Adjusted Gross Income levels of $25,000 or less. Funding for this program is limited.  Awards will be based on your eligibility and the availability of funds.

  • Work Study

    Work study provides part-time employment to students with financial need, allowing you to earn money to help pay education expenses.  You must meet certain eligibility criteria to qualify.

  • Federal Direct Subsidized Loan

    This federal loan is available to students with financial need. We will determine the amount you can borrow based on your financial need.  The U.S. Department of Education pays the interest on this loan:

    1. while you are in school at least half time
    2. for the first six months after you leave school
    3. during a period of deferment

    You must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours for the semester as well as meet eligibility criteria to receive this loan.

  • Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan

    This federal loan is not based on financial need. We will determine the amount the you can borrow based on your cost of attendance and other financial assistance you are receiving.  You are responsible for paying the interest on this loan during all periods.  You must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours for the semester as well as meet eligibility requirements.

  • Federal Direct Parent PLUS Loan

    If you are a dependent student, your parent may be able to receive a loan to help pay for your education expenses as long as they meet certain eligibility requirements.  Your parent may apply for this loan at www.studentaid.gov

  • Children of Fallen Heroes Scholarship

    A Pell-eligible student whose parent or guardian died in the line of duty while performing as a public safety officer is eligible to receive a maximum Pell Grant for the award year for which the determination of eligibility is made.
