Educational Diagnostician Certification

Please do not apply for certification until all requirements below have been met:

  • Completion of all coursework required for degree program
  • Must have a conferred master’s degree
  • Passed the TExES educational diagnostician exam with the Texas Education Agency (TEA)
  • Completed practicum
  • Hold a valid classroom teaching certificate and have three creditable years of teaching experience as a classroom teacher

When all requirements have been met each candidate must apply with both Lamar University and Texas Education Agency (TEA) for the Educational Diagnostician Certification.

How to Apply for Educational Diagnostician Certification

  1. Complete the Graduate Certification Application.
  2. Attach your service record signed and stamped from the school district reflecting three or more years of teaching experience.
  3. Attach a valid Texas Educator Certificate.
  4. Click "Submit."
  5. Complete the online application with the Texas Education Agency (TEA).
  6. Choose "Standard Applications and University Based" as entity.
  7. Once your approval to graduate certification application is received, verified and approved, you will receive an email confirmation from the Texas Education Agency that you have been recommended by Lamar University.

Because of the high volume of applicants, the certification process can take approximately eight weeks from the time your application is received and all requirements are verified.
