‘I have been associated with the university in some form or fashion since 1994. I started at Lamar as a music major right after I graduated from high school. I changed my major to English and came back from 1999-2001 …eventually in 2012, I finally came back to Lamar, and finished my English degree. I got my B.A. in English in 2013 and got my M.A. in English in 2015 and I have been teaching at the University since I was a graduate student in 2014…Being at Lamar at these different points since the mid-90s, I have seen the university under several different presidents, all of whom had their strengths and changed the university in different ways. I have seen the university itself change. When I first started at Lamar, there were buildings on campus that no longer exist and I have watched the growth and the technology and the structure of the university change over the decades and I am really proud to be affiliated with Lamar as a student, as a staff member, and as a faculty member over, nearly 30 years now. It is a really interesting place to work and it’s a place that I feel inspired and motivated by all of the great writers around me. I do not know if everybody knows how many great writers, we have here, at Lamar University!’
