‘It has been a blessing to work at Lamar for the last 23 years.’
‘I joined as an assistant professor in 2000. I was making $33,000 back then. That is one of the ways Lamar has changed. Certainly, salaries have improved in a great way. A lot of the technology has changed as well. Our systems are a lot different, more efficient. For me, Lamar University has been a wonderful place to work. People that I have worked with are superb colleagues and good people. Now, we spend so much of our time in the work environment. To want to be around those people and want to be productive around them is such a good thing. It has really become a nice institution to work at. In 2000, we were the youngsters in the department. Now we are the old school in the Department of Biology. My fondest memories are of the people who brought me in, taught us how to be productive, how to be professionals. They were our mentors. I like coming to work. Because of the interactions, the collaborations, the collegiality of the people at Lamar.’
