‘I entered Lamar University in 1975 when I graduated from High School and I graduated in 1978 with my Bachelor’s degree. I started my Master’s program in 2005 and finished it in 2007. I grew up in a little town called Kerbyville, and it was my first time to stay away from home. I had several professors who really changed the direction of what I wanted to do with my life. So, I felt well-prepared when I went into the education field. I remember in the Football season, so many of us went and cheered, and we went to every Basketball game. These were new experiences for me. I joined the student union and made a lort of good friends. I have several of those friends that I still correspond with on Facebook. Several of my roommates I am in close contact with. At that time we were able to wear jeans and slacks. We went swimming. There was always a group of friends and there was always something to do. I lived in Brook-Shivers and then in Gray Hall. Neither one of those buildings are standing anymore. A lot of our teachers have graduated from Lamar. Three of my four children have graduated from Lamar University.’
