‘I grew up in the Port Arthur-Beaumont area, so Lamar was always a school that we just knew that we would go to, you know, it was one of the top schools in areas. So just to get an education from Lamar would be outstanding. I received my first degree in General Business and Industrial engineering. It was a dual program that Lamar offered, that way you could get two degrees at once. Then I went back to Lamar, and I end up getting my Master’s in Environmental Engineering.

‘I was able to land a job with Coke Industries as their Environmental Engineer because I was a Lamar engineering graduate, which is one of the top engineering programs, it was easy for me to secure many offers. So, instead of looking for a job, I was trying to decide which offer I was gonna accept. Lamar was a wonderful place to go to. The professors were very unique. They believed in their students. They did everything they could to make you achieve your goals. So, you know, because of the positive experiences that I did receive at Lamar, I was able to accomplish all my career goals.

‘It was Mr. Posting, the history teacher…I didn’t like history until I was in his class…But he made history very fun and interesting.’
