‘I earned my associates degree at Lamar Institute of Technology, and once I earned that Associates degree, I was offered a full-time position at Lamar University. Lamar University had this amazing program that employees could earn credit hours for free. So, I began to take advantage of that program when I became a Lamar University employee by getting those classes taken care of while I was working there. That started my journey with them.’

‘Education is life changing. It changes your perspective. It changes your idea of the world. It changes your knowledge and perspective of other cultures. So being involved with Lamar University just gave me an opportunity to be educated in so many different ways. It was not just academic; it was social and cultural. Well, I started working there as a student. The work study program allowed me to work there as a student and see some the professional side as well. Because I worked with some amazing people. I worked in Student Aid Accounting and that was with Gene Moy and with Jody Thousand. And it was just a very nurturing but professional place to work. When I finished that degree at LIT, Jody hired me full time in that department. Then, I went to Student Financial Aid in the Wimberley Building, again working with some amazing people. It was a very nice, culturally diverse mix of people. So, my fondest memories are those are the people I worked with.’

‘Thank the powers that be that take care of Lamar University and its well-being. It has changed the lives of really millions of people over the years because my life has changed for the better. Thank you, Lamar University. All of its supporters, all the amazing people who have worked there. And just thank you for being a part of our community.’
