‘I became associated with Lamar University in 2015. I was a senior in high school and we had a career plan. And then a representative from Lamar University came. She had pamphlets and all these nice things. I had a conversation with her about what the school had to offer. And being interested in Chemistry at the time, I was thinking, what better place than where the plants are? I talked with her and she let me see her brochure and I was able to see the layout of the campus and the dorm rooms. I was really excited because the dorms were like apartment style dorms, so I was able to lock my door. I've never been a fan of waking up next to random people, so Lamar has a lot of privacy and I really love that. The department seemed like they were interesting, so I definitely considered Lamar and then eventually got accepted.’

‘Lamar gave me the opportunity to grow as a person and as a student. They've given me multiple opportunities with their organizations and their events that they have to further you. Even the health center has things where if you're too stressed, you can have a moment to take a breath and relax those kinds of things really do improve people or me at least in a mental way as well as just as a student. Lamar has a great campus. I've been here for a few years and I plan on staying longer. I plan on coming back for my master's degree in Chemistry.’
